Sanae Ebato (絵鳩 早苗 Ebato Sanae) is a fictional character in Scum's Wish. She is a second-year in high school who was introduced as a character that fell in love with Hanabi Yasuraoka after an incident on a train when Hanabi saved her from being molested on the day of their entrance exams .

Sanae is a tall fair-skinned girl who is considered to be beautiful and attractive with mid-back length red hair (she later cuts it to chin-length at the end) and greenish-blue eyes.

She is usually seen wearing a school uniform.

Personality

Sanae is shown to have a kind side in the beginning of the series, however, around Hanabi Yasuraoka, she grows jealous, lustful and possessive especially in their alone time.

Relationships

Hanabi Yasuraoka

Sanae met Hanabi when the two were taking the same train to their entrance exam. A man tried to molest Sanae. Sanae was frozen in place, too afraid to do anything. Hanabi, knowing that the girl next to her is being molested, took out her phone and took a pic of the molester. Sanae was very relieved and thankful. But despite that, Sanae became traumatized.

Turns out that they go to the same high school. They became friends, and as the time passes, Sanae (now called 'Ecchan' by Hanabi) develops romantic feelings toward Hanabi.

In the series, Sanae often kissed Hanabi to show her love for her but Hanabi doesn't believe that her friend would love her in a sexual way

Later in the anime series, they began to have sexual relationship, only to be ended shortly after. They had a break after it, but they decided to become best friends again in the end.

Mugi Awaya

Sanae extremely dislikes Mugi because he's the boyfriend of Hanabi Yasuraoka, whom she has feelings for that she often looks sternly towards him.

Atsuya Kirishima

Atsuya is Sanae's cousin.

Etymology

• The name Sanae means "already, now, fast, early" (早) (sa) and "seedling, sapling, shoot" (苗) (nae).
• Sanae's surname Ebato means "picture, painting" (絵) (e) and "pigeon, dove" (鳩) (hato/bato).

Trivia

• It is noted that Sanae really hates men.
• She's lesbian.
• In Scum‘s wish decor Sanae starts a relationship with Nerome Yuka, who is her substitution teacher in the university and hooked her up in a bar.
